INVITED SYMPOSIUM ABSTRACT
Leadership Development for Clinical Psychologists
The development of leadership competences for Clinical Psychologists in the UK is a priority. Leadership competences are now a pre-registration requirement and many junior psychologists are taking up leadership and service development roles early in their careers.
The leadership demands upon Senior Clinical Psychologists are evolving rapidly as services reorganise, cost savings are demanded and inter professional boundaries diminish. The symposium will outline four funded UK national and regional Leadership Development projects and evaluation data on the effectiveness of each programme will be presented.  The symposium will conclude with a discussion of the challenges and opportunities that current leadership demands pose.
